Learn how to create and send an email to one or more people and see the extra options available when creating an email.
At the top of the screen, tap + New and Email in the menu.
Sending an anti-spam-compliant email that looks great is super easy with UCare. Select a template, the recipients, and the attachments; now you’re ready to send.
Customizing emails for each recipient with their name or other details is also easy using the Insert menu. UCare will take care of the rest and fill in the fields for each recipient.
Note: If a person only has permission to create an email but not send it, they will see a list of people they can ask to review and send the email instead of seeing a send button.
Message
UCare uses markdown for formatting email messages; this allows simplified formatting options that won’t cause problems with spam filters. If you enable the “Display preview side by side,” you can preview the email as recipients see it.
You can also search the web for HTML email builders and templates. Enable the “Enter HTML code instead of markdown formatting” option and copy and paste the HTML code. The side-by-side preview comes in handy when using this option.
The toolbar above the email message textbox changes when “Enter HTML code instead of markdown formatting” is enabled. Use this to add special links and attachments or insert people’s names to the email message.
Note: Use Email templates to create a consistent design for all emails sent through UCare. If you have some HTML skills, you can visit Settings to customize your designs or contact support for help.
Tip: The To field can have multiple people, households, groups, meetings, or events selected.
Tip: Use the Send at a later date option to queue your messages so they automatically send at a specified time.
Note: Please get in touch with support if you need to delete a queued email.
Tip: Use the mobile preview link above the message preview to see what the message will look like on a mobile device.
Tip: “Update link” is a special insert field that inserts a link to a Form that will let a person update their name, birthday, contact info, and address. They will also update their details if they have anyone listed as their child (under 16 years old).
Tip: If you grab the share link from a custom Form, the recipient’s information will be prefilled to help update it quickly. Use this option if you like the “Update link” but want to collect additional information.
Tip: If you email a meeting, only the attendees will receive the message; absent people will not. If you need to contact everyone in the meeting, please send the message to the group instead.
Recipients
After you preview a message, the recipient’s tab displays how many messages will be sent. You may also see a message in red indicating if any of your expected recipients won’t receive the message.
View the Recipients tab to see exactly why each person will or won’t receive a message. When two or more people share an email address, the message is sent to that address only once to stop the email from landing in the recipient’s spam folder. Other common reasons people won’t receive a message are missing or invalid email addresses, unsubscribed, or the last email bounced.
Note: Emails are always sent individually; in other words, recipients are never CC’d and can’t see each other’s email addresses.
Do not email
You can add any group under the Do not email section to ensure that the group’s members don’t receive your email message. If you want to remove a group from this list, tap the ... options menu and stop excluding members of this group.
